The National Ice Centre works closely with the community through programmes which integrate ice sports and the skills obtained with local schools and societies.
Street Hockey In The Community
The street hockey programme commenced in officially in September 2008 and involved 12 schools per year within the Nottingham City Schools Sports Partnership
NIC Key Community Partners
The National Ice Centre are associated with Key Community Partners that we work with closely as part of our schools programmes within the City and County of Nottingham.
14 - 16 Years Comprehensive School Inline Blading Programme
Since May 2006 The National Ice Centre (NIC) has been working with the School Sport Partnerships (SSP) in the Nottingham area to help increase participation in sports and physical activity with young people aged 14–16.
Inline Blading Programme
The NIC delivers outreach sports programmes within the Community. The programme delivers in line free skating and hockey skills to groups of school children.
Daytime Ice Skating Programme
The National Ice Centre are very proud of their Daytime Ice Skating Programme which is offered to Nottingham schools. The sessions are exciting, motivational and fun. All children taking part in this physical activity receive a National Qualification in line with the Learn To Skate – Skate UK Programme.
Learning Zone
The Learning Zone Study Support Centre opened in 2003 as part of the DCSF’s(Department for Children, Schools and Families) ‘Playing for Success’ initiative and is based at The National Ice Centre.
