Synchronised skating is arguably the worlds fastest growing competitive sport and represents teamwork at its finest!

It combines the beauty and elegance of freestyle skating and the excitement of a team sport but it takes hours of hard work and dedication on and off the ice, to blend between 12 and 20 skaters into one unit. It makes skaters of all ages and abilities work together as a team.

The National Ice Centre has four Synchronised Skating teams with ages ranging from eight to 19 plus. The current teams are Juvenile (8-12 years) – NIC Silhouettes, Novice (10-14 years) – NIC Shadows, Junior (12-19 years) – NIC Icicles and Adult (19+ years) – NIC Diamonds. The NIC Icicles were British Champions in 2006.

Once you’ve completed Skate UK level 8, depending upon age and ability, you are eligible to join the Nottingham Synchronised Skating Academy (NSSA).

Training Schedules

Training sessions with the Nottingham Synchronised Skating Academy take place most Thursdays at the National Ice Centre (please see the on ice schedule).
