National Ice Centre Learn to Skate Academy

The National Ice Centre is home to the prestigious NIC Skate Academy. With world class facilities, expert tuition from our GB Coaches, choreography from a former Bolshoi ballerina and fitness training by Olympic athletes.

At the Centre there is also a fully equipped cardio room, weights room and dance studio. The Academy skaters have a host of championship titles, our venue is widely recognised as the best training facility in the UK.

Talent scouting for the Academy takes place during Skate UK lessons; dependant upon age and ability a skater may be invited to try out for a place.

If you’re successful in gaining a place, you will become part of our team and benefit from a unique support network where all the skaters work together to help each other reach their full potential and surpass their expectations. You’ll progress through the National Ice Skating Association’s standard test system and on to national and international competitions with the ultimate goal of competing at the Winter Olympic Games.

We consider education to be a vital part of our skaters training and have now developed a programme for our elite athletes which allows them to dedicate their lives to sport without having to give up their education.

The NIC is home to a state of the art study support centre called the Learning Zone which works in partnership with a local school. This gives skaters the class time on site they require and when their training schedules allow it they can attend the school.

Discounts are available for additional children from the same family (direct debit or monthly fees only).

If you would like to train in the best facilities in the UK, please contact us for further information on 0843 373 3000.
