Next Skate UK Course Dates

The best way to learn how to skate is with a Skate UK Course! All our Skate UK Courses are backed by the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) – the UK Governing Body of British Ice Skating!

Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis, so get them before they’re gone! We’re happy to take advance bookings.

All courses include a group lesson, including skate hire and a free skate session on the day of your course.

All course booking are taken on a first come first served basis and places are limited. Courses are non-refundable and non-transferable. Payment for all courses can be made by cash, credit or debit cards.late booking surcharge. Please note, we charge a £2 fee for courses booked on the day of the lesson.

Progression after Skate UK

Skate UK teaches you the basics of ice skating. There are several different disciplines and the National Ice Centre can offer training in most of them.
You will need to pass the following Skate UK grades in order to try the specified disciplines:

Completion of Grade 4 Entry to Speed Skating
Completion of Grade 5 Entry to Junior Ice Hockey Entry to Adult Scrimmage
Completion of Grade 7 Entry to Adult Development Class
Completion of Grade 8 Entry to Practice Ice
Completion of Grade 10 Entry to Star Programme
Completion of Skate UK Star Bronze Entry to Junior Figure Class
Completion of Silver Star Skating or Ice Dance Entry to Synchronised Skating Club
Completion of Gold Star Skating or Ice Dance Entry to Passport Plus Programme Access to Dance Class
Completion of Passport Plus Grade 3 Entry to NISA National Tests

After completing Grade 10 of Skate UK the next stage is the Skate UK Star programme.

Skate UK Star

Skate UK Star is segregated into three disciplines:

  • Figure Skating
  • Ice Dance
  • Short Track Speed Skating

Each of these consist of three levels:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold

Your coach will be able to advise which discipline is best for you.

Where to after Skate UK Star?

Passport Plus
If you have finished the Skate UK STAR programme and want to continue to enjoy skating then Passport Plus is for you.

Passport Plus is a 6 week group course which offers the opportunity to take the next step beyond Skate UK Star towards entry into the NISA Test System. There are three progressive grades where you will be introduced to jumps, spins, turns, steps and Field Moves.
