The Outdoor Ice Rink

About the Ice Rink

The Victoria Centre Ice Rink in Nottingham’s Old Market Square was the dream of bosses at the National Ice Centre for years before it finally become a reality.

Bosses at the NIC believed that Old Market Square was the perfect position to put an ice rink, right in the heart of the city. When plans were announced to revamp the area in 2005 it seemed like the perfect time to put plans forward.

As plans for the redesign were submitted the National Ice Centre were keen to ensure that the new development would be capable of housing a large rink (20m by 40m) and so started over two years of serious planning for this project.

Thanks to the continued support of the city council, ice skating in Old Market Square will become the essential winter experience in our city. Within the spectacular setting of the Council House and under the huge Christmas tree, we hope this will catch your imagination as much as it has ours!
