- The National Ice Centre is proud to present the third ever outdoor ice rink in Nottingham
- The Victoria Centre Ice Rink is two thirds the size of the ones they use at the Olympics
- Approximately 60,000 skaters hit the ice last year and we’re expecting even more during the 54 days the rink is open this year.
- 95,000 litres of water will make the ice – that’s 287,878 cans of fizzy pop
- It will take just eight days to transform Old Market Square into an ice skating rink
- The ice can be kept at a constant chilly temperature of -11c which is the average temperature of Moscow from November to March
- The ice weighs a total of 68,440 kg’s – that’s the weight of about 10,000 people or 13 African full grown male African elephants
- Old Market Square is not flat – in fact a platform will be built under the ice so everyone doesn’t end up skating down hill
- There are around 850 skates in skate hire – that’s an awful lot of feet
