British Synchronized Skating Championships Results

Eight teams representing the Nottingham Synchronized Skating Academy (NSSA) took to the ice at this year’s British Synchronized Skating Championships, scooping six gold and two bronze medals.

Taking place Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 January, the NSSA teams, who also train at Nottingham’s National Ice Centre, competed against 57 fellow teams from across the country, with around 500 individual skating competitors taking part.

The popular British Ice Skating event was live streamed on BBC Sport across the weekend – a first for the British Synchronized Skating Championships, enabling more people than ever before to tune in and catch the action during the competition.

The eight Nottingham teams’ results are as follows:

Senior Icicles: Gold

Junior Icicles: Gold

Basic Novice Ice Stars: Gold

Juvenile Ice Gems: Gold

Elementary Ice Pops: Gold

Mixed Age Ice Unite: Bronze

Adult Ice Diamonds: Bronze

NSSA Head Coaches Esther Morris and Lauren Kelly, with the help of Ice Pops and Ice Diamonds lead coach Jemma Blackford and fellow coaches Emily Potter and Georgina Wheeldon, have worked tirelessly with the teams throughout the 18-19 season, making the championships results even more rewarding.

“I can’t quite put into words how proud I am of the coaching team, skaters and parents. I’m bursting with pride”, said head coach Lauren Kelly.

The Junior Icicles team performed to a collection of songs from the Greatest Showman movie soundtrack and were rewarded a combined Short & Long program score of 113.25; the team qualify to represent Great Britain at the 2019 Junior World Synchronized Skating Championships in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
