speed skating lessons

Speed skating is a tactical and physically demanding sport, where skaters go head-to-head in races of four to six skaters in a knock-out style competition. Short track is a non-contact sport; however there are no barriers or lanes to separate the skaters, so collisions and falls in competition are quite common, making it one of the most exciting and exhilarating ice sports to get involved in.

When you’ve completed the level four skating lessons grade, you can progress onto our Learn to Speed Skate course.

If speed skating sounds like the sport for you, whether that’s for fun, fitness or performance, you can learn how to speed skate on the same ice the GB Short Track Speed Skating Team use to train on!

You can start learning to speed skate once you’ve completed the level 4 skating lessons grade.

PRICE:  £59 adult / £56 child (from Jan 2019)
LESSON TIME: Wednesdays 5:45pm – 6:15pm

You’ve seen them at the Winter Olympics and now you’re keen to learn more about how to speed skate…

Visit us on Saturdays (12pm-1pm), ask for speed skates at Skate Hire (they come in a variety of sizes for children and adults), and staff will deliver the basics in how to speed skate in a 30-minute taster session. If you enjoy the taster you could progress to speed skating lessons.

You can access this taster session once you’ve purchased a general admission skating ticket.
