General Rules and Clarification

– Age refers to skater’s age on date of competition
– Levels refer to ANY part of BIS Elements or Free Test (FM/Skills Test NOT included)
– Quality of execution of the elements will contribute the most towards the overall score
– SPIRAL type of elements: credit will be given for spirals or choreographic features held for more than 3 seconds
– SPIN elements: all spin positions should be held for 3 revolutions
– JUMP elements: credit will be given for more difficult and fully rotated jumps; however overall quality of execution wins over difficulty of jump
– Quality and creativity of transitions between elements will contribute towards additional credit and overall score

The Story About Eric Frost

Eric Frost was a figure skating Grandfather and enthusiast who loved watching his grandson Kai and other skaters enjoying their sport and making progress on the ice. In 2017, he donated an amount of money to the National Ice Centre to reward the figure skaters and celebrate their day-to-day successes. The idea of the “Eric Frost” Spin, Spiral, Jump Competition came soon after the donation had been made and the first competitions took place in 2018 and 2019. The global pandemic made it challenging to organise this event over the last few years, so we are very happy to be able to host the event again in 2022 and carry out Eric Frost’s wish to support and celebrate skaters.
