Best known as the training rink for Olympic Gold medal winners Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean in the 1980s, the National Ice Centre offers a unique filming opportunity for production companies, vloggers and social media influencers.
As one of the most famous ice rinks in the UK, the National Ice Centre has been featured in numerous adverts, prime time TV shows, YouTube and music videos, and vlogs. The National Ice Centre is home to the Speed Skating Performance Team, many of whom compete in the Winter Olympics, so you’re in excellent company. A three-part documentary series following the highs and lows of a group of young ice skaters at the National Ice Centre.
Olympic Flame Gala
In 2012, we had the honour of the Olympic Flame passing through our venue. We hosted Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean who, in a world first, performed with the Olympic Torch on the ice in an event which attracted media from across the globe.

As part of his New Year’s resolutions, we welcomed LadBaby Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne to the ice in 2019. They had pledged to learn a new sport and documented their first taste of ice skating for their YouTube audience of over 1.8 million subscribers.

Gymnast and Olympic bronze medal winner Nile Wilson was challenged by The National Lottery to learn how to speed skate at the National Ice Centre with athletes Branden Marshall and Ethan Treacy.
