Weekly Social-Ice Sessions

in partnership with Nottinghamshire Mind

Looking to meet new people, have some fun, and boost your well-being? Join us for Social Ice, a weekly drop-in session hosted by Nottinghamshire Mind at the National Ice Centre!

Every Monday from 10:45am to 12:30pm, head to the rink-side Encore Café to connect with others in the community, enjoy conversation, and take part in a fun activity – ice skating!

Open to all ages 18 and over, Social Ice offers a welcoming and inclusive space to:

  • Meet new people: Mingle with others in a relaxed setting 🤝
  • Get active: Enjoy the ice for a reduced price of £5 (including skate hire) from 11am to 11:30am ⛸️
  • Boost your well-being: Combine physical activity with social interaction for a mood boost 😊
Whether you’re a seasoned skater or a complete beginner, Social Ice welcomes everyone!  The ice rink is accessible to all abilities, with our friendly ice stewards available to lend a helping hand. We can also supply ice equipment, which you can explore in full here

The Nottinghamshire Mind charity holds #WellCafes all over the county with the National Ice Centre being its first in a city centre location. Here is what Crystal, a regular participant had to say about her experience…

Being on the ice gives me a sense of freedom that I don't get elsewhere, and it helps me to open up about things that are on my mind.

Here is what Beth, Supportive Listening Administrator at Nottinghamshire Mind had to say about the launch of the #WellCafé at the National Ice Centre on 26 February 2024…

Mental health is becoming a lot more prominent in people’s lives. The chance to talk about it in a safe place with like-minded people may be just what someone needs to tackle difficulties in their lives. Our cafes are also a chance to socialise and meet new people in your area, developing a sense of belonging.

We hope that people find comfort in our cafes and reassurance that they are not alone, with the overall focus on improving people’s wellbeing. We aim to help individuals with their mental health and provide support wherever they are in their journey.

Make new friends, boost your mood, and experience the thrill of ice skating at Social Ice!
